Step 1: Set up your hosting account

Hosting is required to store all your website data in a server. Bluehost does this for your website.

With Bluehost provider, you can purchase both domain name and hosting service. As domain name is free in Bluehost, you need to pay only for hosting.

  1. Visit and click 'Get Started'
  2. Sign up with Bluehost account
  3. Select your plan. There are three hosting service packages available
    • Basic
    • Plus
    • Business pro

If you are a beginner choose a Basic plan. If you are setting up for your business go with Plus or Business plan.

Bluehost has a special intro offer and 30-day money back guarantee. If you are not satisfied with their service you can cancel the account within 30 days for a refund. If you cancel within 30 days you receive a full refund on your hosting service.

Step 2: Choose a domain name

Choose domain name relevant to your niche. For example, if your niche is cooking and you are going to write food recipes you can choose a domain name like 'Reykitchen'.

It is your choice to select your domain name. Check whether the chosen domain name is available.

In the domain search, enter your chosen domain name and click search. The result will show the list of domains. Choose a domain name with '.com' as it is the most recognized domain.

If you are setting up a website for business or e-commerce store you have options to choose domains based on your business.

If the chosen domain name is not available with .com domain, modify your domain name similar to the one you have decided to use.

Check here, the domain name you have chosen is available.

After choosing your domain name, fill the Bluehost form and create your Bluehost account.

Choose the package carefully and check charges for extra packages.

Step 3: Choose the Theme

You have finished setting up your hosting service account. Now you are ready to choose WordPress theme. Install WordPress from Bluehost panel in just one click.

If you already have a free WordPress site, it would be already installed for you.

You will receive an email about your login credentials for WordPress. Login to WordPress with credentials and go to your admin site.

You can see your WordPress dashboard where you have Appearance option available for selecting a theme. Choose your theme. If you want to change the theme you can go back and change it.

Step 4: Customize the Theme and Pages

Before you step into writing posts it is important to customize your theme. Remember these points when you customize the theme.

  1. There are a lot of themes available. Choose the theme relevant to your niche.
  2. If you are creating a website for your business, I recommend using Thrive themes.
  3. Keep your website simple to read. This helps your visitors to read without distraction.
  4. Add menu structure. Do not include too many the menus. It is good to include one or 2 menus in the initial stage. If you do not have any posts under a menu, it will show a blank page for visitors. As you write more and more posts, add menus relevant to it.
  5. Add About or Homepage where you can introduce about yourself or about your business.

After creating your first blog post your website is ready to get published. Go to Bluehost from your WordPress dashboard.

Click launch button present in the  Home tab.

Your new baby is launched now for the world to see!

I had Blue Host before the only thing I did not like is there is no monthly options for purchase .other than that it is better than most hosting except Wealthy Affiliate that gives you peace of mind not having to deal purchasing additional security to keep out hackers from terrorizing your site 24/7

    • You are right Erick. Wealthy Affiliate is very sophisticated in terms of creating website and maintenance.

Bluehost does not have monthly options. If they provide any monthly trial offer it will be helpful for newbies.
In my opinion, these kinds of yearly subscriptions will help to sustain with the business/website for the long term.
